Even if we do start up a business for little or no money investment, we will eventually have to put in some type of investment to increase the profit potential of our business.
  • “If you build it, they will come”, the true internet marketing saying is “If you build it, they probably won’t even know you exist”. If we build a website, it is very important to dedicate a great amount of our time to Search Engine Optimization. SEO is the internet marketing technique of utilizing the power of search engines to increase traffic to a website. When a potential visitor types in a keyword phrase for the search engine, it is highly important that our page show up on the first result page. This can be done by writing keyword rich articles and updating our site with rich genuine content.
  • It is wise to set up multiple sites instead of just focusing on one. Many people believe if they set up 50 sites that bring in one dollar a day, then they’ll make 50 dollars a day. However, if a person puts all that time in effort into one site, they’ll make an even greater amount of money.

I think it’s pretty clear now, how effective blogging can be to improve your page rank on search engines, to drive traffic to your site, and increase your sales.  However, are you truly using your blog to it’s full potential?  Let’s talk about how to maximize the benefits of blogging, drive even more traffic, and generate even more sales in a few easy steps.

1. Post Regularly. This is an underrated factor in determining how much traffic you receive to your website.  Serious internet marketers post every day, sometimes a few times per day. Now I realize this just isn’t possible for some, maybe most people, but the point is to post as much as possible.  Having said that, it is crucial that you are posting fresh content!  Write useful and interesting posts, you need to keep people coming back for more.  By posting regularly, you not only gain a following, but you will rank higher on search engines, and therefore, generate more traffic to your site.  Basic rule:  the more you blog, the more visible you become.

2. Link Exchange. Another great idea is to invite people who already have a high page ranking, and of course have a blog or website relevant to yours, to exchange links with you.  This will absolutely increase your ranking when indexed by the search engines.  A simple, yet powerful tactic.

3. Monetize. 4. Keywords. Ensure that all of your posts are rich with keywords, know what your keywords are and use them in your post.  It is the keywords that are indexed by the search engines, so don’t just write an article, write an article that has lots of keywords in it.  If you are writing about one particular topic, that should not be difficult.

5. Ping! Ping your blog at http://pingomatic.com/ whenever you add new content.  All you need is your blog URL and the title of your blog.  This ensures that your new content is indexed by the search engines.  Again, simple but powerful.

It’s not enough to have a fancy website if nobody knows about it.  Imagine someone is searching for a specific item – whatever it is, maybe a specialized fishing lure, how to speak Portuguese, or chrome rims for a minivan, it doesn’t matter!  If you have it, what matters is will they find you.  This could be your million dollar question……

Here are the keys to getting your site not only noticed, but highly ranked, so that you are displayed among the top when using search engines:

Search Engine Optimization.  You have heard the letters SEO thrown around a lot I’m sure, but being able to use it is quite another thing.  If you understand that everyone uses search engines when looking for something, then this should be your jumping off point.  To get recognized in search engines you need optimization.  I will follow up soon with details, but for now I’m going over the keys to really creating traffic to your site.

2. RSS Feeds. If you’re using blogs, then RSS feeds are a valuable resource in getting traffic.  Input some RSS feeds into your blog, and watch the people come.

3. Viral Marketing. This could be categorized as the equivalent of word-of-mouth advertising.  Offer something free to your visitors, studies show that consumers will come running if it’s free, but that’s hardly news is it?  Moreover, it’s likely they wil tell others to go check it out, and so on…..

4. Article Marketing. This is a very effective means of driving targeted traffic to your site.  It may require a little more work, but there are many free resources that allow you to submit short articles about your product focusing on your niche market.  Remember to include a link to your site or you will have written some adcopy…and that’s it.  Also, advertisers are always looking for fresh content, so they may want to use your articles in their publications.  What kind of boost would that be?  Exactly.
